Use of UVC in LAF cabinets & fume hoods strengthens hygiene safety

Using UVC as a supplementary disinfection method in LAF cabinets and fume hoods significantly strengthens hygiene safety in laboratories and cleanrooms. UVC effectively degrades microorganisms and DNA on surfaces and equipment within the cabinet – entirely without the use of chemical disinfectants.

The UVC unit is installed inside the LAF cabinet / fume hood and operated between work processes. An integrated timer ensures automatic shut-off after the defined treatment time, and supports a simple, safe, and consistent disinfection process.


Flexible Solutions

We offer different configurations for LAF cabinets and fume hoods, designed to suit different workflows and operational needs:

  • Built-in – for fixed installation directly in the cabinet
  • Shield with legs – a mobile solution with shielding on the top and sides
  • Built-in on legs – a mobile solution without shielding

The mobile solutions allow the same UVC unit to be used in multiple cabinets and all solutions can be adapted for both existing setups and new installations.

All models come with a compact control box on a 2-meter cable with a 230V plug, including an integrated timer for straightforward operation.


Customisation and Dimensions

The solutions are developed with focus on flexibility and are tailored to your specific requirements, including:

  • required level of disinfection
  • installation during operation
  • handling and storage between uses

As standard, the units are available in two lengths:

  • approx. 500 mm
  • approx. 930 mm

Shields and legs are made to order and can be height-adjusted to ensure optimal positioning in any LAF cabinet and working environment.

Technical support and design

We provide technical guidance, including solution design and baseline calculations of the required UVC dose based on the desired level of disinfection. 

The lamps are available in multiple configurations, with options including:

  • housing in aluminum or stainless steel
  • protection against glass breakage
  • Adjustable timer option
