Automated UVC tunnel for high-hygiene entry at Danish Crown
Danish Crown is one of Europe’s largest meat producers and a leading global exporter of pork, with a strong position in both pork and beef markets. High hygiene standards are essential for ensuring safe and stable food production. In connection with handling items entering high-hygiene areas, there was a need for an efficient and automated disinfection solution.
Danish Crown defined a number of key requirements for the solution:
High disinfection efficiency without the use of chemicals
The solution was a UVC tunnel designed to ensure effective 360° disinfection of items before entering high-hygiene areas.
The tunnel is primarily used for disinfecting cans and is designed for food production environments requiring flexibility and high operational reliability.
With a variable conveyor speed, the system can be adapted to individual production lines.
Effective disinfection on all suraces
Items transported through the tunnel are treated on all sides using a specially developed wire conveyor belt, with UVC lamps strategically positioned around the items. This ensures consistent treatment and a high level of disinfection – without contact and without the use of liquids.
A flexible solution for multiple applications
The UVC tunnel is a compact, stand-alone solution suitable for a wide range of applications in the food industry.
The system can handle items up to 400 x 600 mm and is used for:
Bags, sacks, and boxes
Containers and canisters
Products and components
UVC technology is effective against a wide range of microorganisms, including bacteria, fungi, and viruses.
