Resource-efficient disinfection
The supply cabinets circulate between a distribution center and the hospital, where they are used for up to 7 days. When the cabinets return, they must be thoroughly disinfected before being refilled and put back into operation.
There was a need for a solution that could:
- Ensure high hygiene on both internal and external surfaces
- Reduce the consumption of water and other resources used in traditional washing processes
- Improve handling efficiency in the logistics workflow
A tailored UVC solution
In close collaboration with Region Zealand, a custom-built UVC tunnel was developed to meet all requirements for disinfection, functionality, and operation.
The cabinets are conveyed through the tunnel from the unclean side to the clean side, achieving a disinfection level of 99.99%.
The tunnel is designed to:
- Deliver a high and uniform UVC dose
- Cover all surfaces – both inside and outside
- Ensure effective disinfection of both cabinets and contents
To ensure full coverage, the solution has been adapted to the cabinet design. Drawers made of plexiglass can block UVC light and prevent effective irradiation of all surfaces.
Therefore, drawers and baskets are removed during the process and placed separately, allowing both cabinets and components to be exposed from all angles and achieve 360° disinfection.
From need to completed solution
The solution was developed through a structured process in collaboration with Region Zealand. First, requirements and needs were defined, followed by the creative design phase.
Technical drawings were prepared and continuously refined, after which the design was approved and production and assembly began.
The result is a solution fully adapted to Region Zealand’s physical environment and workflows.
Integration, testing & safety
After installation, the UVC tunnel was thoroughly tested to ensure optimal performance, correct UVC dosage, and compliance with all safety requirements.
As part of the delivery, CE marking and a risk assessment were carried out to ensure safe operation and to minimize the risk of accidents.
